Disclaimer:
KBD fenders and fender flares are aftermarket accessories designed for track, show, and off-road use. These components are not intended for public road use. KBD disclaims any responsibility for damage, injury, or loss resulting from their use.
Due to the nature of polyurethane and the manufacturing processes involved, KBD fenders and fender flares are not ‘direct bolt-on’ parts and may require professional installation. While some drilling of mounting holes and trimming may be needed, additional polyurethane is not required. Common issues like fitment challenges can occur if not installed properly.
Fender Flares KBD fender flares extend the wheel arch for a more aggressive stance, often matching the style of a complete body kit. Depending on the design, some fender flares may need to be attached using rivet nuts with a rubber gasket between the flare and the original fender (not included). More aggressive flares may require cutting and rolling of the original fender to provide greater wheel clearance and a lower stance. Adjustments during installation are common, so care must be taken to ensure proper alignment and fitment to avoid gaps or uneven surfaces.
Fenders KBD fenders provide an aesthetic upgrade, giving vehicles a sleeker, more customized appearance. These lightweight polyurethane replacements may require reinforcement around the A-pillar and the fender mounting flange for durability and a secure fit. Trimming and reshaping the fender may be necessary to align with the vehicle’s mounting points. Modifications to factory components, such as removing fender liners or adjusting brackets, may be needed for proper installation.
For best results, KBD recommends professional installation by a custom shop experienced in working with polyurethane. Traditional auto repair shops may lack the necessary expertise for proper trimming and fitting of these components. Like all KBD body kits and accessories, these fenders and fender flares are strictly for track, show, or off-road use. Due to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, most KBD fenders and fender flares are not street legal. KBD does not endorse or recommend using these products on public roads or highways.

FAQ
Why does the hood require hood pins?
Aftermarket FRP and carbon fiber hoods require auxiliary hood pins because composite material expands, contracts, and flexes differently than OEM metal. Over time, this can shift latch alignment, and at highway speeds the reduced weight of a composite hood combined with aerodynamic lift creates upward force on the leading edge. Hood pins provide a mandatory secondary safety measure that eliminates the single point of failure.
Why Aerocatch? Aerocatch latches are the industry standard because they sit nearly flush with the hood surface — no protruding pin shafts. They use a spring-loaded, quarter-turn locking mechanism that clicks into a detented, closed position, giving both visual and tactile confirmation that the hood is secure. Unlike traditional hood pins, there is no separate R-clip or lanyard to lose, and the integrated assembly is available in finishes that blend cleanly into painted or carbon-fiber hoods. Originally proven in FIA-sanctioned racing series, they carry motorsport-grade reliability onto street-driven builds.
Hood pins are typically installed at the leading edge of the hood, approximately 6–8 inches inward from each headlight corner, with a solid backing plate on the underside. Never install through unsupported laminate. Professional paint and body shop installation is strongly recommended; mount all hardware before painting to ensure proper alignment and sealant application.
When reading the product description for one of the hood designs for an BMW F32, it says “Prep Work is Required”
What do you mean by this?
Fiberglass parts always require prep work before they can be primed and painted. This product is made with fiberglass material; therefore, it will exhibit chips, breaks, cracks, waves, scratches and holes which require modification. It is necessary to dry fit and drill mounting holes and perform body work before painting. Cutting and adding fiberglass may be required for proper fitment. Ships direct from the manufacturer or a distributor. Primer finished. Hand layup is the manufacturing process used for the majority of our fiberglass parts. Hoods require hood pins. We do not offer any guarantee of fitment on vehicles that have been involved in accidents and/or have body damage or customization.
