Disclaimer:
All grilles offered by KBD are designed as aftermarket accessories intended for off-road and show use. KBD assumes no responsibility for any damage or injury resulting from the use of these grilles. Due to the nature of polyurethane and the manufacturing processes involved, KBD grilles are not “direct bolt-on” parts. They often require extensive preparation, including sanding, cutting, trimming, and filling gaps. In some cases, it may also be necessary to drill holes for mounting and perform custom fitting work to ensure proper installation.
Modifications to vehicle components, such as adjustments to the front bumper or mounting points, may also be necessary for a proper fit. KBD strongly recommends professional installation by a custom shop experienced in working with polyurethane components, as traditional auto repair shops may not have the expertise to handle these modifications.
KBD grilles and other KBD products are strictly designed for off-road and show use. Due to stringent Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, many of these grilles are not street legal. KBD does not endorse or recommend using these grilles on public roads or highways.

FAQ
Why does the hood require hood pins?
Aftermarket FRP and carbon fiber hoods require auxiliary hood pins because composite material expands, contracts, and flexes differently than OEM metal. Over time, this can shift latch alignment, and at highway speeds the reduced weight of a composite hood combined with aerodynamic lift creates upward force on the leading edge. Hood pins provide a mandatory secondary safety measure that eliminates the single point of failure.
Why Aerocatch? Aerocatch latches are the industry standard because they sit nearly flush with the hood surface — no protruding pin shafts. They use a spring-loaded, quarter-turn locking mechanism that clicks into a detented, closed position, giving both visual and tactile confirmation that the hood is secure. Unlike traditional hood pins, there is no separate R-clip or lanyard to lose, and the integrated assembly is available in finishes that blend cleanly into painted or carbon-fiber hoods. Originally proven in FIA-sanctioned racing series, they carry motorsport-grade reliability onto street-driven builds.
Hood pins are typically installed at the leading edge of the hood, approximately 6–8 inches inward from each headlight corner, with a solid backing plate on the underside. Never install through unsupported laminate. Professional paint and body shop installation is strongly recommended; mount all hardware before painting to ensure proper alignment and sealant application.
When reading the product description for one of the hood designs for an BMW F32, it says “Prep Work is Required”
What do you mean by this?
Fiberglass parts always require prep work before they can be primed and painted. This product is made with fiberglass material; therefore, it will exhibit chips, breaks, cracks, waves, scratches and holes which require modification. It is necessary to dry fit and drill mounting holes and perform body work before painting. Cutting and adding fiberglass may be required for proper fitment. Ships direct from the manufacturer or a distributor. Primer finished. Hand layup is the manufacturing process used for the majority of our fiberglass parts. Hoods require hood pins. We do not offer any guarantee of fitment on vehicles that have been involved in accidents and/or have body damage or customization.
