Will installing carbon fiber parts void my vehicle’s warranty?
Installing carbon fiber parts may or may not void your vehicle’s warranty depending on several factors:
- Manufacturer's warranty policy: Each automaker has specific guidelines for warranty coverage. Some manufacturers may void parts of the warranty if aftermarket components, such as carbon fiber parts, are installed, especially if they lead to damage or performance issues.
- Type of part and installation: Replacing non-structural parts like hoods, spoilers, or interior trim with carbon fiber may not void the warranty. However, if the part requires modifications to the vehicle’s structure or engine (e.g., replacing load-bearing parts or affecting air intake), it might impact warranty coverage.
- Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act: Under this U.S. law, manufacturers cannot void a vehicle's warranty simply because an aftermarket part was installed, unless they can prove the part caused the issue or damage.
It's recommended to check with your vehicle manufacturer or dealership before installing carbon fiber parts to understand their warranty policies
